Noelle’s Random Acts of Kindness – In Her Own Words
(February 17, 2021) – “I’ve tried to support new moms in the building any way that I can. Whether that means bringing meals and snacks, holding their babies while they eat or pump, making trash runs, or washing their dishes, all of the things that feel insurmountable during those first few weeks of motherhood. When I brought my daughter Inez home, the other moms at Warren Village dropped food at my door, rushed Pedialyte, Tylenol, Benadryl to me at all hours of the day, and shared invaluable mom life hacks with me. They comforted me (and still comfort me) with difficult daycare drop-offs and I’ve found myself consoling other parents in the same way. I’ve come to learn that all of this is kind of an unwritten code that we share in our Warren Village community. Being single parents hasn’t meant that we are all alone. I don’t know what I’d do without the women here, and I try to give back however I can out of deep gratitude.
Middle-of-the-Night Hospital Run and Orchestrating Food Donations
I’ve had the honor of going through the early stages of labor with a few of the moms here and even made one middle-of-the-night hospital run with a mom who was about to deliver. I’ve been able to offer lactation support for multiple new moms here. Again, just trying to pay forward what was given to me in my journey as a new mom here.
Last summer I facilitated the donations of surplus food by a Children’s Hospital CFAP emergency food distribution program, which was run by a friend. From May through September of 2020, we received over 5800 pounds of donated produce, meat, eggs, etc. that were distributed in the lobby of Warren Village.
Giving Back, One Act of Kindness at a Time
My daughter Inez and I cared for the Warren Village garden during the pandemic, and we brought the produce to the lobby and encouraged families to bring their kids out to pick the strawberries and play in the garden.
Last fall I led a ballot discussion for residents interested in voting and organized a little ballot drop-off parade for families where we marched to the nearest ballot box at the Botanic Gardens to drop them off together.” – Noelle, current Warren Village Resident
