Spooky Season Takes Over Warren Village!

Over one October week, all three Warren Village campuses found their own way to celebrate Halloween. It took a lot of people to pull it off, and we’re so grateful to all of our staff, volunteers and partners who helped make it a treat!

Gilpin

Gilpin families gathered for the Warren Village Halloween Party on Wednesday, October 21, at the Althea Center.

Thank you to the Gilpin team who planned the evening, to every family who joined, and to our partners:

  • Forvis Mazars: 10–15 volunteers. They sponsored the entire event!
  • United Airlines: for sharing your volunteers and sponsoring the costumes for the event!
  • Warren Village Associate Board: For your volunteering and sponsoring all the candy for the event!

Alameda

On Friday, October 23, the Alameda campus hosted Trunk or Treat in the parking lot of the Women’s Bean Project. Families enjoyed pizza together and kids in costumes bopped from one decorated trunk to another, filling their bags with not only candy but stickers, fidgets, fruit, and small toys.

Special thanks: Alpine Bank, Maverick Living Legacy, Women’s Bean Project, Rachel Nixon, our Associates’ Board, and everyone who donated candy and showed up to volunteer!

First Step

First Step’s month started with Family Night on October 14, made possible by Board Trustee Jacque Vedra, who sponsored the evening. Then, on October 23, families headed to Maize in the City in Thornton for a fall celebration with transportation provided. The day included slides, a mini corn maze, a petting zoo, duck races, a corn kernel box, bouncers, and photo ops.

Fourteen children and nine moms attended, and we’re grateful to Diana Santos and Angelica Poventud for organizing volunteer help and to everyone who stepped up to supervise and ride along. Thank you also to the sponsor who made the day possible.

Early Learning Centers

Our Early Learning Center families were invited to the Spooktacular Fest on Friday, October 23, with carnival games in every classroom, treat bags, and a face painter. At Alameda’s center, a pumpkin decorating event and a classroom pumpkin contest kept the creativity going through October 31. Thank you to the teachers and staff who turned classrooms into carnivals!

One more to come

On Friday, October 30 at 10:00 AM, the Learning Center Costume Parade is open to parents and guardians, who are encouraged to wear costumes too (no scary or inappropriate ones, please). We’ll meet at the sidewalk in front of the building, walk around the block, and finish with a stroll through our apple orchard and a taste of apple cider.

To everyone who set up, supervised, sponsored, and showed up: thank you!
